I loan because: May, 2007: Seems like a powerful idea to enable people to help themselves to build the lives they want. We're definitely going to give this a try....

Update: September, 2007. Lending funds to small businesspeople in developing countries has proven to be even more rewarding than we expected. Each of the worthy borrowers has repaid a good share of the loans and all are successful enough to meet the monthly payment schedule. We enjoy reading the reports of their success. When the loans are fully repaid, we'll re-lend the funds to more hardworking small businesspeople around the world.

Update: October 2007. More than half of the entrepreneurs in our portfolio have already repaid 50% or more of their small starter loans. We enjoy reading the updates on their businesses.

Update: January, 2008. Our first loan to a woman in Nigeria has been fully repaid and we reloaned the money to a group of women in Pakistan.

Update: March 2008. Well this experiment is really working well. 5 of our original loans have already been paid back in full and we've reloaned the funds to other businesswomen and also made some more loans with new funds.

We love food and particularly love MEAT. So lately, we've focused our lending portfolio on the women who make the world a better place through meat. Check out the photos of knife-wielding ladies from Peru to Nigeria to Cambodia and beyond, purveyors of Beef, Pork, Guinea Pigs, Goats, and more. We tip our hats to Kiva for the great meat and animal photos. Kiva really is making the world a better place: capitalism and carinvorism, an idea we can really get behind.

May 2008: We've been Kiva lenders for a year now and it has worked out great.

September 2008: We joined Kiva Community Team Vermont...Jeezum Crow! Click here to Join:

May 2009: It's been two years and we've done 38 loans so far. The experience has been great, and we can recommend Kiva to all our friends. This is so much better than sending food because it helps people become self-sufficient.
About me: Ken comes up with new ideas for businesses and Art is a full-time college student, majoring in Environmental Geology.
